Tyler's original opponent for this film was to be Team Ryouko member Ilan Rosenberg. The two collaborated for a month and choreographed an exciting fight together. During their final rehearsal session, only days before the shoot, Ilan suffered a terrible freak injury while warming up: he ruptured his achilles tendon. He would require surgery and was ordered to avoid physical activity for six months. Ilan tried his best to find a replacement for himself while Tyler and first assistant director Ken Mohabir tried to write an entirely new concept for the film. Finally, literally the night before the first day of shooting, Tyler was put in touch with fellow Team Ryouko member Allen Keng, who heroically stepped up to the plate. Allen arrived on set the next day and Tyler briefed him on all of the choreography that he and Ilan had created. Unfortunately Allen is a much smaller build then Ilan, and the hard-hitting powerful style that had been set out for him no longer looked right against his taller opponent. The solution? Re-choreograph 75% of the fight to accomodate Allen's different size and style.
